Lyrics:

1. On the hills of Judea, a long time ago,
A boy watched his flocks as they swayed to and fro.
A crippled young shepherd, watching a star,
Saw a bright one aglow in the heavens afar.
And as he watched, a beautiful sound
Came down from heav’n and circled him round,
And told him the news of Bethlehem town:
In a stable there the Christ could be found.

2. And as he drew nearer the manger,
He knew the source of his pain was leaving him too.
He laid down his crutches, a gift to the Child,
His spririt rejoicing, loving and mild.
And on two sturdy legs returned to his sheep,
The glow in his heart forever to keep.
For he’d learned the news of Bethlehem town:
In a stable there the Christ he had found.

3. Oh Baby, dear Baby for that boy and me
You brought Christmas morning our souls to make free,
To love thee and serve thee and cause us to be
Thy children returning to Father and Thee.
And on two sturdy legs forever we’ll serve,
The glow in our hearts forever preserve,
For we’ve learned the news of Bethlehem town:
In a stable there the Christ we have found.
